Ambient ozone in the Czech Republic (Is it a menace?) by Iva Hůnová

The phytotoxic potential of ambient ozone for ecosystems in the CR is presented. The exposure index AOT40 in 1994–2008 indicates high phytotoxic potential, particularly in rural areas. The highest values were recorded in 2003, when one third of the Czech forested area experienced the sixfold exceedance of the critical value (5 ppm.h). It is desirable to study if high O₃ exposure is real menace for the Czech ecosystems.
