Překvapivý vznik meteoritického kráteru v Peru

Surprising formation of meteoritic crater in Peru by Jiří Borovička.

On September 15, 2007, a 14 meters wide crater was formed by meteorite impact in Carancas, Peru. This event was surprising because the meteorite was stony and its pre-atmospheric mass was not particularly high. I briefly describe the consequences of the impact and discuss the significance of the event. It seems that the Carancas impactor differed from the majority of stony meteoroids by its high material strength.
