The authors provide a brief introduce to the question of sexual orientation. They describe the newest theories concerning aetiology of homosexuality (from the evolutionary, genenetic or hormonal viewpoint), the surveys concerning prevalence of the gays and lesbians in general population and the question of “therapy”of homosexuality originated mostly from religious theories.
