Polymeric drug delivery systems attract increasing interest in drug research, because they allow to modify properties of drugs in the way that is otherwise hard to reach. From many possible applications, two approaches are highlighted in this article: polymeric drug releasing implants for contraception purposes and anticancer drug delivery systems. For the drug delivery of anticancer drugs, tumour targeting approaches are discussed.
